Does this place offer peanut and nut free options

I did not see that on the menu but I wasn't looking for that. I am sure you could ask. They are very accommodating.

Is the meat halal over here?

There are chicken, beef and lamb dishes available, but it is not clear whether there is a halal religious ceremony!

The food is great, the price is fair (especially for Yellowknife), the portions are large, and the staff are friendly. Great place! And you can eat with your hands. :D

The spiced tea and ethiopian coffee were amazing. The four of us each tried some of the others' dishes and there were all unique and delicious. Will definitely go again.

Pretty decent food. Not the greatest customer service skills, mainly from the owner. We felt like we're troubling them just by being in there.

I was craving a taste of home; something spicy and delicious. Ethiopian was as close as I was getting in YK so I figured I would give Zehabesha a try. I ordered the curry goat and was a bit skeptical when my total came to just over $25. Best $25 dollars I spent since my arrival in here. I got a HUGE plate of delicious goat meat with rice and salad that went perfectly. If amazing tasting food and gigantic portions sound like your calling, then Zehabesha is worth checking out!!

Fantastic and delicious tasting Ethiopian food right in Yellowknife! This place has wonderful flavours, tasty vegetarian options and super friendly service. They also make the BEST injera! The portions are great and reasonably priced - you won't be disappointed! One of my favourite restaurants in town.

I had never been to an Ethiopian restaurant and made the same mistake as Hwee and I ordered the Mahiberawi combination plate- I have FOMO so I thought this was a great way of sampling a lot of dishes. This is definitely a share plate! 😜 it was delicious but there was no way I could eat it all.The food alone gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ But the service was inattentive. Don’t expect fancy decor or amazing service you go here for the food.

Just think about it: an african restaurant in the middle of nowhere, in Canada's North ! Well, Yellowknife is not exactly the middle of nowhere but I honestly did not expect to find such a classy Ethiopian restaurant here. The food ia great. No alcohol served but you won't regret eating there if like me you like that kind of food.

Super delicious restaurant. Definitely must try during the stay in Yellow Knife. The capacity of meal is huge, you might get super full if wanna finish one dish alone. Suggest to order different dishes and share with friends. BTW, the tradition coffee is so bitter, be careful. Prefer the tea better personally.

A long walk to a restaurant we were looking forward to visiting. Only to find it was shut. And before you ask - yes we did check in advance of the opening times. Don't advertise you're open and then shut early or you'll get bad reviews!

Curry Chicken. Wow. A little known fact if you like to drink is that you can settle next door at the raven and have them deliver fresh from the kitchen. It's so nice and hot when comes through and you can indulge! New menu is really nice and easy to understand.

I visited Zehabesha in October 2018, when I was on vacation in Yellowknife. I haven't tried anything Ethiopean before, to be said incidentally, nothing from African cuisine. In a nutshell: I don't remember exactly the name of the dishes that I have tried (after my first visit I went there every day), they were very tasty and I loved them all. And it stands to mention their coffee, probably one of the best I have ever drunk (the other one was in Portugal). All in all, I highly recommend to visit this restaurant if you are in Yellowknife.

Ethiopian food was not what I thought I would be eating on my first trip to Yellowknife, but was it ever good! Service was quick, food tasted fresh and was relatively inexpensive for the quantity you get. We got the non-vegetarian "combination" plate (or so we called it), and the chicken curry. I recommend the former. Worth checking out if you have a big appetite!

Wow, delicious and great value - I turned up as they were about to close, and they'd almost run out of food... The owner was so accommodating, and made me up this amazing vegetable dish to take out. I'm currently enjoying it sitting on a dock on the lake. Heaven!

This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, and I was not disappointed. We ordered one vegetarian and one meat tasting platter, both with injera, and a chicken curry rice. My parents also ordered the coffee, which came with popcorn, and they liked it a lot.Personally I didn't really like the injera (don't come @ me), but I thought that the vegetables and lentils tasted really great, and there were so many different flavours! It was definitely a unique experience. I think that the vegetarian dishes were better than the meat dishes, as the meat was a bit dry. I don't eat meat, but I tried some of the sauces they used for the meat and let's just say that I much prefer the taste of the vegetable/lentil dishes. Plant based ftw! Anyway, prices were on par with every other restaurant in Yellowknife, portions are decent, and I really liked the variety that they offer with the tasting platters. If you come here, I think that the best thing to get would be the vegetarian tasting platter.

Surprised at all the positive reviews for this restaurant. I ordered the combination plate for lunch while up in Yellowknife for work. The food was cold when it arrived and was mediocre at best. The restaurant itself was dingy and service was nonexistant. And it cost me almost $30 for lunch! I would recommend going elsewhere.

Amazing restaurant. I only ever order the vegetarian pancake dish, just cuz it’s so good that I don’t even wanna try anything else. My friends order other dishes and they’re happy with them as well. It might seem pricy but the portions are so big that it’s like two meals.

We came around 7pm without a reservation and it was busy! So recommend booking in advance unless you don't mind waiting. The man running the show was pretty abrupt telling us they were full, almost as though encouraging us to go elsewhere, but after running around a bit he managed to clear some tables. He was more jovial after this, but still pretty blunt- think it's just his way. We had a mixed platter and chicken curry, and both were delicious and hearty portions - a blessing after our 5-hour hike without lunch. The food was a bit on the cold side and they had run out of the injera so we had rice instead, but it was very tasty!

Ordered the Mahiberawi combination for dinner because it looks so good on the menu. When the plate showed up, I couldn't stop laughing as it is clearly enough for two people. I couldn't finish the entire plate but it tasted as good as it looked on the menu. Did not disappoint. The restaurant was very casual, suitable for family. Will definitely go back if I visit Yellowknife again.
